5 Skills You Must Learn Within 30 Days of Buying a New Two-wheeler

Updated: Mar 1, 2021

Congratulations on being the proud owner of a beautiful machine! We wish you all the best of many wonderful rides to come. and we are also sure that you will learn to become a better motorcycle Rider as you continue to ride every single day. With that in mind here are five basic skills that you need to acquire and master over within the first 30 days of Beginning your experience. Learn how to stay safe

The most important skill that you need to acquire before you begin to learn the mechanical aspects of the motorcycle is to stay safe on the road. and the simplest and most effective way of doing that is to use motorcycle riding gears at all times irrespective of how far you are planning to ride. Many people make the mistake of thinking that motorcycle helmets and other safety accessories are not necessary for electric two wheelers or small capacity motorcycles but that is a misconception that can quickly become fatal! even falling from a stationary motorcycle and hitting your head on a hard surface can lead to a severe head injury. To stay safe against such freak accidents always wear a brand-new good quality motorcycle helmet and other riding gear.

Learn how to ride slow

Before learning how to ride fast you must learn how to ride slow! that is the primary skill which you need especially in a country such as India where everything is always stuck behind traffic and you cannot possibly Rider high speed if there is no space to ride exclamation mark that is why you need to master the operation of the clutch and the brakes so that you can keep balance over the motorcycle even at very low speeds.

Learn about counter steering

Counter steering is one of those black magic concepts that take a lot of practice to actually understand. you cannot possibly attempt to understand the Physics happening behind the scenes when you have to point the front wheel in the opposite direction of the actual direction you intend to go! What it basically means is that you need to find the higher in the left direction if you want to go right. however, the thing about counter steering is that it is extremely subtle and you are not going to notice it unless you are riding at extremely high speeds. For most of this happens Intuitively and naturally so we don't have to do anything special to counter steer the motorcycle. If you want to get a deeper understanding of the concepts behind counter steering a motorcycle check out YouTube videos on the topic when you can see the whole thing in action. Learn to brake smooth

An important skill that you need to learn as a beginner is how to brake the motorcycle smoothly and bring it to a halt without any incident. In most cases, braking is the most difficult skill that new motorcycle Riders have to learn because it takes a lot of practice and fine-tuned feeling of the amount of pressure that must be applied on the brake Lever to reduce the speed of the motorcycle, all the while, pressing the clutch to disengage the engine. Your motorcycle comes with an ABS system, which protects against panic braking and saves you in a situation when you grab a handful of the brakes under panic. No matter what people tell you to do, never disengage the ABS system especially when you are beginning to learn how to use it.

Learn to avoid target fixation

When you start riding two wheelers, you get the feeling of being drawn to other vehicles approaching you from the opposite direction automatically! That is what is known as target fixation. It is the habit of seeing other vehicles approaching you that triggers the brain into giving subtle inputs to the handlebar of the motorcycle which starts veering it off course and directly in front of the oncoming vehicle! you need to avoid that by keeping an eye on other vehicles using peripheral vision but focusing on the blank space of the road directly in front of you.
